ORDINANCE NO. 450
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 381 AND ORDINANCE NO. 387 OF THE CITY
OF STILLWATER REGULATING THE SEEPING OF DOGS, ESTABLISHING FEES FOR THE
KEEPING OF DOGS, PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION AND REPEALING CON -
FLICATING ORDINANCES
The City Council of the City of Stillwater does ordain as follows:
Section 1. Section 3 of Ordinance No. 381 of the city of Stillwater
October 9, 1962 and amended by Ordinance No. 387 of the City of Stillwater
passed August 6, 1963, is hereby amended to read as follows:
Permits shall be valid for a period of one year commencing May 1 and
expiring April 30 of the year next following; and, except as herein-
after provided, shall be issued only upon payment of the following
annual fees to the City Clerk, viz;
(a) For each male dog or spayed female dog $ 3.00
(b) For each unspayed female dog 15.00
(c) For any kennel or pet shop, covering all dogs 50.00
kept during the year
Permits may be issued during any of said one year periods upon payment
of the applicable foregoing fees; provided that the fee provided in
subdivision (c) shall be pro -rated on the basis of the number of months
remaining in any such period. For this purpose, fifteen days or more
shall be construed as a full month.
Every application for license shall be accompanied by a certificate
from a qualified veterinarian showing that the dog to be licensed
has been given a vaccination against rabies within the time herein-
after specified:
No permit shall be granted for a dog which has not been vaccinated
against rabies as provided in this section on such a date that not
more than two years will have elapsed from the date of such vaccina-
tion to the time of the expiration of the license to be issued. Vac-
cination shall be performed only by a doctor qualified to practice
veterinary medicine in the state in which the dog is vaccinated. A
veterinarian who vaccinates a dog to be licensed in the City shall
complete in triplicate a certificate of vaccination. One copy shall
be issued to the dog owner for affixing to the permit application,
one 'shall be sent to the Minnesota State Livestock Sanitary. Board, and
one copy shall be retained in the veterinarian's files.
No permit shall be issued for a spayed female dog unless there shall
be filed with the application for permit a written statement of a
licensed veterinarian to the effect that such dog has been spayed or
otherwise rendered sterile.
Section 2. Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and publication according to law.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Stillwater this 12th. day
of May, 1970.
