AUGUST 29, 1950
A regular meeting of the Stillwater Recreation Board was held at the
City Hall at 7:30 P.M. on August 29, 1950
Present were: Board menfuers Bourdaghs, Grove, Waldref, Radke,
Pozz ini and Swans on.
Also present was John l-I. Leslie, Recreation Consultant of the Minnesota
Youth Conservation COmmission, who explained the work of the Commission
stating it had been organized in 1947, that its policy was that of
prevention of delinquency rather than a cure. The Commission is ready
to assist in setting up similar Conservation Commissions in the Cities
and towns of the State. He also quoted several case histories showing
the benefits of local boards and recommending that ,a similar program
be instituted in Stillwater.
~1 motion of Bourdaghs, seconded by Pozzini and carried unanimously,
the Secretar~y was instructed to request all interested local organizations
to send a representative to our next meeting to act on an Advisory Com-
mittee, in accordance with Section 4 of the ordinance creati..r:lg the Recrea-
tion Board.
The Beach committees reported everything under control with onl~. a few
days left of the official season.
Playground committee reported program for the year complete with children
returning to school the following 'fuesday.
Skating committee inactive.
On motion, the meeting was adjourned.
