July 25, 1950
A regular meeting of the Stillwater Recreation Board was held at the City Hall
at 7:30 P.M. on July 25,1950.
Present were Board Members: Waldref, Grove, Bourdaghs, Radke and Swanson.
Chief of Police Bud Law was also present.
Chief Law reported on the employment of Art Lofgren as beach maintenance man
'at Lily Lake, stating that the Girl Scouts reported a loss of $10.00 in cash
. a few days after and that their concession had been broken into. As' a result
of this, Lofgren was relieved of his job after one week.
Lily Lake Beach -Omar Peltier has been appointed new caretaker, as of July
22nd - reported by Val Radke. No big work necessary at this beach.
St. Croix Beach - No big work needed at this beach. Caretakers have deputy
badges but identification of life guards by some official badge is also
desirable. A suggestion was made that life-guard towers be placed at beach~s
before the 1951 season.
Skating Rinks - A meeting of the McKusick Lake neighborhood people will be
held to get their co-operation in operating the rink. Bourdaghs reported
all planning of rinks will be done before the skating season.
PlaYgDoun<is - A report on grass cutting was made, Staples having been mowed
3 times by Lyle Cran who will also take care of Washington Park. Washington
has been mowed once by Thueson, hired by City Engineer.
On motion, the meeting was adjourned.
