A regular meeting of the Stillwater Recreation Board
was held at the City Hall Jan.26,I955.
Present were; C.D. Bourd~ghs,Lawrence JUnker,Art Bartkey
Bill O'Brien
Reports from committees:
Skating & Sliding:Mr. Bourdaghs
There Are public rinks at St.Mary~s school,Staples
Field,and at Hancock Street.Private rinks at Owerr~&
Rice,South Broadway,and Kolliner's tennis court.
Expenses so far are:
I38.75 for flooding of rinks.
I80.00 for grading slides.

Joe Ritzer has hauled sand for the prevention of
weede~.
Mr.Fritz Ulrick offered to build a dock at LilyLake.After considerable discussion ontthe dock
and a slide,the question was tabled until the
next meeting.Mr.Bartkeymade a motion that Mr.
Ulrich measure the Legion dock and be abletto
give us an estimate of how muchtadock and slide
will ~cost at our next meeting.Mr.Junker seconded
and the motion was carried.
Robert Ludwig was elected to the Recreation Board to take
Mr.Charlsen's place.
The Recreation Board now consists of:
Mr. Bourdaghs,Mr.Bartkey,Mr.Junker,Mr.Ludwig,and
Mr.O'Brien.

A regular meeting of t:-,e Stilh.rater Recreation Board
was held at the City Hall Jan.26,I955.
Present were:C.D.Bourdaghs,Lawrence Junker,Art Bartkey
Bob Ludwig,Bill O'Brien.
Gene Lampt made application for life guard at Lily Lake
at the same salary.He was approved.
motio~~~as made by Art Bartkey to buy hats for the
life guards.(~arried)
Christensen asked for a caretaker at the. athletic
field.It was approved up to $125.00.
The board approved the payment of up to $150.00 t'or
softball lights.at the athletic field.
One diving board at an estimated cost of $333.00 was
approved by the board f'or Lily Lake.
A discussion was held on a new dock to be installed
at Lily Lake.It was later tabled to a future date.
On motion the meeting was adjourned.

A regular Meeting of the Stillwater Recreation Board
was held at the City Hall April 27,I955.
Present were: C .D. Bourdaghs, Lawrence Junker ,Arthur Ba.rtkey,
Robert Ludwig/william 0 I Brien.
Legion Beach:C.D.Bourdaghs
Coca mats were purchased for the diving boards
at the Legion Beach.
Lily Lake Beach:Arthur Ba.rtkey
Mr. Ba.rtkeymade the motion to rehire Harold
Lang as caretaker at Lily Lake Beach for
I60 a month.The Motion was carried.
Playgrounds:Lawrence Junker
A motion was made by Mr. Junker for Teams to
contact LeRoy Christinsen for use of the base-
ball field.The motion carried.
A motion was made to have Mr. BQurdaghs ask Mr.
Abracromb~remove gravel off Staples Field.
Carried.
On motion Mr.Junker Will ask Mr.Charlsen to have
the Park Board cleanup . Broadway Park.
A discussion followed on life guards=
Letters are to be sent out to life guards who
have all ready applied almost assuring them of
positions.
Mr.Bourdaghs will also put in the paper a notice
for more applicants.
A notice will also go through the high school.
The motion was passed that our next regular meeting would
be held May I8,I955 for the purpose of meeting life guard
applicants and explaining their duties,wages,andhours.
On motion the meeting was adjourned.

A regular meeting of the Stillwater Recreation Board
was held at the City Hall May I8,I955.
Present were;C.D.Bourdaghs,Lawrence Junker,Arthur Bartkey,
William L.O'Brien.
All persons int.erested in being life guards were present.
Life guards chosen.tprthev Veterans Memorial Beach were:
Gene Lampi and PatJt11cLaughlin. ..
t the Legion Beach Tim MacDonald and Walter Kurth were
hired.
Minimum requirements for life guarding is a Junior Life
Saving Badge.
Pay for life guards was set as follows;
Junior Life Saving Badge $I5o
Senior Life Saving Badge-- $I55
Water Safty Instructor - $I60
It was moved and passed that a dozen signs reading "Beach
Closed''be purchased.
Also "Rulesof the Beach"be printed in 25 to 30 copies.
This work was to be done ,by Nick Junker.
On motion the meeting was adjourned.

A regular meeting of the Stillwater Recreation Board
was held at the City Hall June 29,I9S5.
Present were:C.D.Bourdaghs,Lawrence Junker,Arthur
Bartkey,William L. O'Brien,Robert Ludwig.
Reports on Committees;
SOFTBALL-Mr. Junker
It was moved and passed to put a snow fence
at Staples Field along the first base line tostop balls
from going into the street.Mr.Junker was authorised to
spend approximately $50 for this workJ!he material to
be furnished by the city.
LILY LAKE BEACH-Mr . Bartkey
Cocoa matting was put on the two small
docks.
Joe Ritzer dragged bottom for weeds exc-
ept for the West side which will be done later.
here was a lengthly discussion on a
new dock at Lily Lake.A motion was made and passed
to authorize Mr.Bartkey and Mr.Ludwig to spend up to
20 getting dock specifications, types used in this
area and an approximate price.
On motion the meeting was adjourned.

Softball-Mr.Junker
Because of only (4) softball games left it was
decided not to put up a snow fence at Staples
Field this year.
Lily Lake Beach-Mr.Bartkey
On motion Mr.Bartkey was asked to have the beach
house cleaned at his own discretion.
On motion Mr .Bourdaghs was asked to look into some of thelegalaspectsatthebeaches.Liability and swimming afterbeachhourswerethemaininterests.
On motion Mr.Bourdaghs was asked to talk to the presidentoftheJ.C.'s to see what their interest is in recreation.
Mr. Ludwig notified the board that he would be ready withhisreportonadockatthenextmeeting.
Mr.O 'Brien was asked to write for information on the
destroying of weeds at Lily Lake.
A motion was made and passed that there be.no meetinginAugust.

A regular .eeting of the Stillwater Recreation Board
was held at the City Hall Sept.28,I9',.
Present were:C.D.Bourdaghs,Arthur Bartkey,Lawrence Junker.
Reports on Committees:
Softball-Mr. Junker .
Light bill for softball has been agreed to be
paid which is less than$I,O.
Skating rinks for this year will be in charge
of Mr.Junker.
It was decided to encourage neighborhood rinks
and to have them leveled and cleared of snow by
property owners in neighborhood. The ,rinks will
be flooded at the expense of the Stillwater
Recreation Board.

Motion was carried to exclude the Oct. meeting.
It was moved to have Mr. Lawrence Pozzini at our next

Joe Ritzer has leveled
off rinks for flooding.All that is needed.is the cold
weather for flooding.
The secretary was asked to write to the.uAllied Spraymen"for information on spraying Lily Lake Beach in the ,Spring.
On motion it was decided that there be no meeting in Dec.
