SPECIAL MEETING
The meeting was called to order by President Peterson.
Present: Councilwomen Avise and Bodlovick, Councilmen Kimble and
MacDonald and Mayor Peterson
Absent: None
Also Present: Finance Director/Coordinator, Kriesel
Press: None
Citizens: Hank Sampson, Jim Junker
HJIMKOST
HANK SAMPSON, Washington Federal Savings & Loan, was present to discuss the
possibility of having the Hjimkost at Stillwater in August. The ship was
constructed by Tom Asp, Moorhead, Minnesota and made a historic trans -Atlantic
voyage to Norway in 1981. The ship was being transferred to Moorhead and MR.
SAMPSON was trying to have the ship come to Stillwater for exhibition. The
City Council gave their enthusiastic support to Mr. Sampson on his efforts to
bring the Hjimkost to Stillwater.
GARBAGE RATE INCREASE
JIM JUNKER OF JUNKER SANITATION was present to discuss his request for an
increase in garbage rates. MR. JUNKER said that an increase in rates was
necessary because of increased costs to transfer and dispose of the solid
waste. After a lengthy discussion on this matter, the City Council tentatively
agreed to increase the rates to $7.00 for all units and to $5.95 for Senior
Citizens living in one and two dwellings. (This was later changed to $7.05
and $5.95 for all Senior Citizen units).
POLICE PROPOSAL
MR. KRIESEL recommended that the City Council accept the counter -proposal from
Local 320 of $2,230 for the top patrol rate and $120 per month toward Hospital/
Medical/Dental insurance.
On motion of Councilwoman Avise, seconded by Councilwoman Bodlovick, the
Council moved to set the top patrol rate at $2,230 per month and to pay $120 per
month toward hospital/medical/dental insurance for all collective bargaining units
and for all supervisory personnel. (all in favor)
ADJOURNMENT
On motion of Councilwoman Avise, seconded by Councilman MacDonald, the meeting
adjourned at 7:55 P. M.
