HomeMy WebLinkAbout1943 ResolutionsRESOLUTION No. 1137 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF CERTIFICATES OF INDEBTEDNESS RESOLVED BY TEE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STILLWATER that there shall be issued and sold certificates of indebtedness of the City of Stillwater in the sum of Nine Thousand (9,000) Dollar's in anticipation of the payment of taxes levied for the General Fund of the City of Stillwater in the year 1942. All of said Certificates shall be a general obligation of the City; they shall be dated December, 31, 1942, and shall be payable to the bearer on or before December, 31, 1943, with interest at four (4) per cent per annum from date of issue until paid; they shall be numbered and in amounts as follows; Certificate No. 1 for Three Thousand (3,000) Dollars. Certificate No. 2 for Shree Thousand (3,000) Dollars. Certificate No. 3 for Three Thousand (3,000) Dollars. They shall he signed in the name of the City by its Mayors sealed with its corporate seal and countersigned by the City Clerk. Said certificates shall be sold by the City Clerk as soon hereafter as possible, at per and accrued interest. Passed January, 5, 1943. Attea Published January, 6, 1943. City Clerk RESOLUTION NO. 1138 Mayor RESOLUTION FIXING COMPENSATION OF EMPLOYEES OF THE STREET DEPARTMENT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STILLWATER that effective January, 1, 1943, compensation of the Street Department 1s hereby fixed as follows; Trucks including one driver thereof for each truck ,1.35 per hour Foreman .75 per hour Regular Employees .65 per hour Irregular employees .55 per hour Said compensation shall be paid semi-monthly on the first and sixteenth days of each month for the work done in the preceeding half month and the City Clerk is hereby instructed and authorised to draw his warrants on the Treasurer accordingly. Mayor 277 • • • e • • 278 RESOLUTION NO. 1140 RESOLUTION DESIGNATING DEPOSITORIES FOR PUBLIC FUNDS RESOLVED DY T:'E COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STILLWATER; 1. That the following banks locatedin Stillwater tilare hereby designated, for a term ending 1944, depositorities of public funds belonging to the City; First National Bank in an amount not to exceed 925,000.00 Cosmopolitan state Dank in an amount not to exceed 920,000.00 Farmers & Merchants S.Bank in an amount not to exceed 95,000.00 2. That before any deposits of any kind are made in any of said banks, each of them desiring to receive such deposits, shall comply with all the provision. of law pertaining to security to be given the City for all deposits of public funds. 3. That should my depository elect to withdraw as a depository at any time during said term, such depository may do so by giving at least 15 days written notice to the City, addressed to the City Clerk, of such election. Upon such withdrawal, the bond given by such depository, if any has been given, shall be cancelled and the principal end sureties thereon discharged and the City Areasurer shall deliver to such depository, all collateral securities given by it to secure the deposit of tho funds of the City therein, but no bond shall be cancelled and no securities shall be returned until such depository has delivered to the City 'Treasurer all moneys' in its possession belonging to the City; should the City elect to withdraw its designation of any such depository during said term, it may do so by giving a similar notice of such election to the depository. Upon the designation of any depository being so withdrawn, such depository shall deliver to the City Treasurer, all funds belonging to the City in its possession. RESOLVED 8Y THE COUNCIL OF 'THE CITY OF STILLWATER; 1. That it is hereby determined that theae portions of the hereinafter named streets situated in that territory of the City of Stillwater, embraced within the boundaries of the several sprinkling districts hereinafter described shall be sprinkled with water, or sprinkled, treated or surfaced with tar and gravel or crushed stone as hereinafter designated during the year 1943, which territory is hereby divided into two sprinkling districts, which are and shall be numbered, bounded and described as follows; Sprinkling District Number 14. RESOLUTION N0. 1148 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF REAL ESTATE RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STILLWATER that the City acquire from Frank Schmidt of Stillwater, his right, title and interest in and to the following described land situated in Washington County, Minnesota, to -wit; Lot £z Five (5) in Block Twenty -Three (23) of the original Town, now City of Stillwater. The consideration to be paid therefore is to be the sum of Ten Dollars, ($10.00) in cash and in addition the City is to release and discharge said Frank Schmidt from any and all claims against him arising out of his failure to Glean up said property or to do anything else with respect thereto except what has allready been done to the game. Attest; / 11, // Mayor b City Clerk 283 e • • 1 • 284 RESOLUTION NO. 1151 RESOLUTION ON THE REMOVAL OF THE STILLWATER TERMINAL DOCK WHEREAS, a written contract dated January, 20, 1939, exists between the City and the Industrial Contracting Company, a Minnesota corporation of Minneapolis. Minnesota, with respect to the leasing by the City to said corporation of the so-called River Terminal Property on the West bank of the St. Croix River in the City; and, WHEREAS, included in the property leased under said agreement is the wooden dock erected by the City; and, WHEREAS, said dock is in a dilapidated condition and is an eye sore to the property and possibly of some danger to the public, and it is the desire of both the City and the said Industrial Contracting Company to have the same removed; IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF TEE CITY OF Stillwater, that the City permit the removal of said dock and all parts thereof belonging to the City by the Industrial Contracting Company at no charge to the City but the said Industrial Contracting Vompany Is to pay the City the sum of Eight nHundred (800) Dollars in cash for the matethenrtolin become1d theock now propertyelongiof suaid industrialontr cting C City, Cmaterial ompany, it being understood that said dock shall be entirely removed to the satisfaction of the City Rngineer within Fourteen (14) months from the date of the passing of this resolltion and said Eight Hundred (800) Dollars 1s to be paid to the City on or before April, 20, 1945. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TEE CITY OF STILLSATER, V:ASIiINGTON COUNTY, UIN':ESOTA, that WHEREAS, the City of Stillwater, by and through proper agencies. has caused a police call lamp to be established In said City to notify policemen on duty of a police call, which said police call lamp is operated or actuated by an electric a switch by which the said lamp is turned on or off; and WHEREAS, the City desires the Northwestern Hell Telephone Company 14 to permit the installation of the necessary switch operating said police cell lamp in its central office in Stillwater in order that an operator of said Telephone Company may, by operation of the switch, cause the police call lamp to be lighted whenever a request for the same may be received over the telephone circuits of said Telephone Company; and WHEREAS, the Northwestern Hell Telephone Company has expressed its willingness to allow the installation of such switch in its central office and will instruct its operators to actuate the same, thus turning on the police call lamp whenever a request may come to the operators over the telephone circuits in said office. NON, THEREFORE, in consideration of the foregoing, be it resolved and agreed by the said City Council of the City of Stillwater that said 1orthwestern bell Telephone Company and its employees assume no liability whatsoever to said City of Stillwater, or to anyone else, for damages resulting from a failure to actuate or turn on such police call lamp or relay or from failure or delay in operating said switch whether such failure or delay is caused or occasioned by neglect or failure of said Telephone Company or its employees, or because of the defective or other conditions of the police call system, or for any other cause, And further that the installation of said switch and police call system and lamp is for the purpose of improving the present police call system at.d that, when i,stalled and completed, it shall be held and offered to the public, not as as a sure and infallible means of police alarm or call system, but as a system which is as good as can be provided under existing circumstances. The said police call system, together with such employees of the Telephone Company and the Telephone Company itself in permitting the installation and in operating said police call lamp and system, are hereby declared to be a municipal agency.
