" #< , '- \ - " On motion of Cayou, seconded by Grove and carried unanimously, the Secretary was instructed to publish a notice in the Gazette that the Board will consider applications for position as bathing beach instructors and lifeguards, all applications to contain qualifications of the applicant. 46~~. APRn. 1, 1949 A special meeting of the Stillwater Recreation Board was held April 1, 1949 at the City Hall at 7:30 P.M. Present: Kutz, GrOve, Bourdaghs and Swanson. Tom Abercrombie was also present. Applications for position of lifeguard having been received from: Kenneth Kaiser, Jack Leversee, Maureen 0' Brien, Marilyn McGarry, Jane Henley and Tom Abercrombie, the matter of hiring and salaries was thoroughly discussed. . as first choice In accordance with 'the Board's previously stated purpose to hire/those appli- cants Wli.o had done good work in the past, Jack Leversee was hired as first guard at Lily Lake at a salary of $450. for the summer and Maureen 0' Brien and Marilyn McGarry as second guard, to split the salary of $300. for the summer. Tom Aber- crombie was hired as first guard at the River beach at a sUary of $37.50 for each week of 6 days. ~~ ~"" MAY 31, 1949 Regular meeting of Recreation Board was held at City Hall, 7:30P.M. May 31st. Present: Kutz, Grove, Bourdaghs, Swanson. Douglas Ames was called into the meeting. Chairman Kutz reported that as a result of our request for funds to finance the summer baseball program for boys sufficient money had been paid or pledged to guarantee the program. Douglas Ames was hired to conduct the boys program for the summer a.t a salary of $200 per month. On motion of Grove, seconded by Bourdaghs and carried, Mr. Ames was given per- mission to contact local businessmen to spons'or boys teams if arid when he deems it necessary. ~I-. ~ S cretary. .,.: JUNE 28, 1949 Regular meeting of the Stillwater Recreation Board held at City nall June 28, 1949, 7:30 P.M. .....-...., - ;; Present: Bourdaghs, Grove,. Cayou and Swanson, also Val Radke recently appointed by Mayor Carlson to succeed George Kutz, resigned. Jack Leversee and George Kutz were also present. On motion of Bourdaghs, seconded by Grove and carried, Clarence Cayou was elected temporary chairman. Minutes of prevlhous meeting were read and approved. General discussion of the swimming program followed with Jack Leversee reporting almost 300 children enrolled at Lily Lake in swimmingclassea. He also reported that attendance at Lily Lake beach during the week was in proportion of3 to 1 over the River beach but that River attendance was heavy over week ends. He requested some help from Haefner at Lily Lake during the week in order to carry the work etficiently. On motion of Swanson, seconded by Bourdaghs and carried, the salary of the two girl guards at Lily Lake was increased $40. per month for the balance of the season. Bourdaghs, Grove, Radke, Waldref and Swanson. Oil motion of C. D. Bourdaghs, seconded by Ray Gro'lte,G:rant T. Waldref was elected temporary chairman. All members were present: C. D. Bourdaghs, Ray C. Grove - City Council Harry A. Swanson, Clarence C. Cayou - School Board Grant T. Waldref, Val RaGtke, Lawrence -.. Pozzini Grant T. Waldref was nominated Chairman and on.motion duly made, seconded and carried, was declared elected. ..,.'cJ .... . ...-. Harry A. A general discussion of various phases of the Recreation problem followed. The Secretary was instructed to notify George (Mike) Mueller a1J.d ask him to attend the regular March meeting to discuss our summer program and inform us as tO,what help we might expect from the Red Cross in swimming instruction.
