A regular meeting of the Stillwater Recreation Commission was held
at the City Hall on November 2, 1970.
Present were: George Wohlers, Jim Lammers, Lawrence Junker
Jack Dielentheis, William L. O'Brien, and
Dick Blekum. Absent: Myron Melstrom.
Dick Blekum went over specifications for the proposed development
on City property across the St. Croix River from Stillwater. After some
minor changes it was passed by the hoard and is enclosed with the
minutes'.
The contract for the Stillwater St. 0roix River Recreation Area
was read and changes made. This will he submitted to Mr. Harold Kimmel
who.vill review and present to the council at a later date.
Next meeting will be Monday, November 16, 1970 at 7:00 P.M. at the
City Hall.
On motion, the meeting was adjourned.

A regular meeting of the Stillwater Recreation Commission was
held at the city hall on November 16, 1970 at 7:30 P.M.
Present were: George Wohlers, Jack Dielentheis,
William L. O'Brien, and Dick Blekum
Absent were: Lawrence Junker, Myron Melstrom.
Non-members of Board present: Lew Newquist and Harold Kimmel.
Mr. Kimmel reported on the contract set up by the recreation
commission for the Stillwater St. Croix River Recreation Area. He
will now bring it to the Stillwater City Council for their approval.
If approved, he will then get in contact with Mr. Carl Neumeier of the
Margaret River's Fund and request monies for the hiring of a consultant
for planning of the property.
Mr. Lew Newquist of Banister Engineering Co. gave a report on
the progress at Lily Lake Park. He will see to it that adequate lighting
will be provided for the basketball court, and that the Boil will be
tested on the softball field, as it is not draining as it should.
Some of the needed items for Lily Lake °ark, not covered by
contract, were discussed and a list made up as follows:

December 2, 1970
A regular meeting of the Stillwater Recreation Commission was held
at the City Hall on Wednesday, December 2 at 7:30 P.M.
Present were: George Wohlers, Jack Dielentheis Lawrence Junker,
and William O'Brien
Non-members present were: Dick Blekum, Howie Jiran, Connie Knoche,
Dr. Nelson, Jerry Foley, and Yrs. Fox of Roseville
Arena
The main reason for the meeting was to make a tentative schedulefor
the ice arena at Lily Lake. Mrs. Fox of the Roseville Arena gave a report
on the operation and scheduling at Roseville. Family memberships are
$25.75 and double this for out of town people. The hourly fee of $h0.00
per hour is charged for rental.
A definite schedule was not arrived at but from the many suggestions
brought out during the meeting, the board is now aware of the activities
each group would like to have scheduled at the arena and at what time of
the day.
At the board's next meeting on Monday, December 14, scheduling of
the arena will again be discussed.
On motion the meeting was adjourned.

AMERICAN RED CROSS SWIMMING PROGRAM
1970
NOTICE: The form below must be si;;ned by one t)srent and returned to the
swimming instructor on registratiom day. Anif person entering at least the
third grade in the fall, is eligi;:;le to part.icipate.
TO PARENTS: Please read the following and sign below if you wiBh your
children to take part in t.he pr.?gram.
The fee for American Red Cross Swimming lessons this summer -will be $2.00
per person for the first two in an.,tr one family, and $.50 thereafter" to be
paid at registration for the six week program. If the $2.00 is a hardship
on aQy person, please contact Mrs. Robert Fritz at the 436-7889, and the Red
Cross will make provisions ~? t.hat lessons will be given.
There will be no bus transportatio.to swimming classes this year due to the
high cost. Parents are urged to arrange for car pools so that all children
may participate.
Lessons for children in the Marine Area will be at 0' Brien State Park, and at
the Christian Brother's Retreat House. The people in the Afton Lakeland-
St. Croix Beach area will have lessons at t.he Bayport Beach.
