RESOLUTION 2022-062
RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PERMANENT CLOSURE OF SAM BLOOMER
WAY, AND A PORTION OF MYRTLE STREET IN THE CITY OF STILLWATER
WHEREAS, Sam Bloomer Way, from Nelson Street to 70 feet north of West Myrtle
Street and West Myrtle Street from Sam Bloomer Way to 120 feet west are located in
Lowell Park in the City of Stillwater; and
WHEREAS, Sam Bloomer Way, from Nelson Street to 70 feet north of West Myrtle
Street and West Myrtle Street from Sam Bloomer Way to 120 feet west are public roads
used by motorized vehicles, non -motorized vehicles and pedestrians; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 6 of the 2040 Comprehensive Plan 2040 goals and objectives
lists closing of Sam Bloomer Way to automobiles to create a River Front Promenade; and
WHEREAS, the Police Chief and the Public Works Director support closing Sam
Bloomer Way, in the interest of public safety; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Stillwater, Minnesota hereby approves Sam Bloomer Way, from Nelson Street to 70 feet
north of West Myrtle Street and West Myrtle Street from Sam Bloomer Way to 120 feet
west be closed permanently to motorized vehicles and authorizes the Public Works
Director to execute said closure.
Adopted by the Stillwater City Council this 3rd day of May, 2022.
