HomeMy WebLinkAbout4793 (Res.)• 301 , RESOLUTION NO. 4793 RESOLUTION ADOPTING CHANGES IN FIREMEN'S RELIEF ASSOCIATION BY-LAWS. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF STILLWATER, MINNESOTA, that the following changes to the by-laws of the Stillwater Fire Department Relief Association are hereby approved: ARTICLE I, OFFICERS, SECTION 3. Secretary's Duties Paragraph 6, shall be amended to read as follows, "The salary of the secretary shall be determined by the board of trustees, but in no event shall said salary exceed $100.00 per year. ARTICLE IV. PENSIONS. SECTION 2. Pensions Paragraph 1, Deleted. Paragraph 2, Shall be amended to read as follows, "widows of deceased, retired firemen, who have not remarried and are drawing pensions on May 1, 1967 shall be paid the sum of $60.00 per month, Paragraph 3, DELETED Paragraph 4, Shall be amended to read as follows, "Any member of this assoc- iation who has been or may hereafter reach the age of fifty (50) years and who has served or may hereafter serve active duty for twenty (20) years or more, as a member of the Stillwater Fire Department, or any paid Fire Department in the said City of Stillwater, shall be entitled to service pension in a lump sum based on each year of service actually rendered and computed at the rate of $200.00 per year of service. In no event shall said lump sum service pension exceed the sum of $6,000.00. ARTICLE VI. BENEFITS. SECTION 1. Paragraph 1, Shall be amended to read as follows, "Every member of this association in good standing who shall become sick or disabled due to causes arising out of the performance of his duties pertaining to firemen, and thereby rendered unable to perform each and all of the duties pertaining to his said occupation when called upon to do so, shall be entitled to the sum of $5.00 for each day during the period of such sickness or disability provided, however, that such payments for any one sickness or disability shall in no event continue for a period greater than twelve (12) weeks. SECTION 3. Death Benefits. Paragraph 1, Shall be amended to read as follows, "Upon the death of any member of the association, a lump sum death benefit of $500.00 or their accured pension amount, whichever is greater. SECTION 4. Death Benefit. Paragraph 1. DELETED SECTION 5. Benefits to Widows and Minor Children Paragraph 1. DELETED SECTION 6. Benefits to members. Paragraph 1. Shall be amended to read as follows, "Any member upon qualifica- tion for a service pension may make application therefor to the pension board within sixty (60) days. In making such application, the applicant shall relieve the association from any and all claims and benefits, save and except the sum fixed for such service pension. SECTION 7. Funeral Flowers Paragraph 1. Shall be amended to read as follow, "The president and the secretary are hereby authorized to purchase funeral flowers, not to cost more than fifteen dollars ($15.00), in the case of the death of any member of this associa- tion, and flowers, not to cost more than ten dollars ($10.00), in the case of the death of any member of the family of any member of this association. 302 • • ARTICLE VIII. MISCELLANEOUS. Section 3. Annual Meeting. Paragraph 1. Shall be amended to read as follows, "The regular meeting of the association shall be held on the lst Tuesday of April of each year at such time as may be determined by its board of trustees. Adopted by the Council this 24th day of October, 1972. Published: October 30, 1972 Attest: RESOLUTION NO. 4794 Mayor RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF ONE UNMARKED POLICE CAR. BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of Stillwater, Minnesota that after the receipt of three quotations on the purchase of an automobile, the quotation of Erickson Post, Inc. for the sum of $3,175.00 on the purchase of a 1972 Mercury is hereby accepted. Said automobile is intended to be for the use on a twenty-four (24) hour a day basis by the Public Safety Director. Said automobile is to be purchased from funds in the Police Benefit Fund.
