Council called to order by President Coffeen.All members of the Council
present, except Councilmen Loeber who was excused on account of illness.
P. T. Wilson, W.J. Madden and W. Z. Per Lee, Directors of the Washington
County Memorial Association were present and demanded that the City turn over to
them the proceeds of the sole of the South Main Street property.
After a len„hty discussion the matter was deferred, on account of the
absence of Oounctlmen Loeber.

On motion of Councilman Betglund the City Clerk was instructed to hove
1000 copies of hie annual report printed in pamphlet form.
On motion of Caunctlm.n Oe;ren the City Clerk -as instructed to make
settlement with Ors Stuher & Culver, Dr. D. Salinoff, Anne L. Sacker and King Bros
for bills contracted on account of the eicknesc of William Bonse, a city fireman,
and to use the S71.00 pr sented L'1 s-IC Souse towards payment on the above bills,
provldinz he consents to use of same.

Report of City Treasurer for the eonth of Febru::ry reed end ordered filed,
Bond of the First Betlonal Bank as a City Depositor, was presented,c:nd on
motion of Councilman Locher the same was approved and ordered filed.
On motion of Councilman Berglund the Cosmopolitan St::te Berk was designated
as a depository for the Workmens Compenestfor. Fund, end the City Treasurer was
directed to deposit said fund in the Savings account.
The City Clerk re-ortcd :nine made settle..:ents of the various claims vs
William Bonse on account of his recent illness and Operation es follows;
Out of the 371.00 received from William Horse po.id Dr. &,linoff $47.70
Anna L. Sacker 320.00 end Zing Bros. on account $3.30 and agrcm' with Drs. Stuhr &
Culver to pay them $45.00 end Zing Bros. to balance account 317.80, which bills are
herewith presented for payment.
City Engineer presented plans ens specifiestions and estimate of cost for
grading, graeling and improving a part of Sherburne Street and Councilman
Berglund offered a pesolutlon approving same and fixing a time for hearing and
directinz the City Clerk Lb -•give notice of same in accordance with the provisions
of the City Charter, which resolution was uron roll call defy adopted.

Whereas,This natural head of navigation can be perpetually ::aintained by
dredging,rhen necessary,tho channle of the St. Croix River at one or two places
below Hudson,Wisoonsin, at a nominal exnensc,and to change it would require the

That the Governent of the United States be and is hereby requested to establish
Stillwater as the head of navigation for steamboats plying on the L'ississip•i and

western points. And should the head of navigation_ be sc desimrated,the City of
stillwater pro:xises and engages to furnish adequate terairal facilities at Still-
water for the proper and eco:inical handling of all such shipments of freight.

Petition from the patrons of the Twin City Busses was presented by Elmer
Carlson,reouesttng the Council to assist them in getting better service,and after
a langhty diectssion the Council agreed to use its influence in getting the
relief asked for and on :motion of Councilman Berglund the City Attorney : was asked
to give them such assistance as he could in the matter.
Mr.. Frank Withrow asked the Council to have the hitching posts adjoining
his building on Commercial Avenue removed,and on motion of Councilman Berglund
the matter vas' taken under advisement for investigation.
The Mayor announced the appointment of Gee. R. uclntyre as a policeman to
stake the place of Ted.J. Wilde, and on motion of Councilman Berglund the appoint-
ment was confirmed.'
Oath of office of Geo. R. McIntyre filed.
On motion of Councilman Loeber a Dance Permit was granted to the Holy Name
Society of the French .Catholic Church.

Stillwater and A. F. Lehrer on his Sherburne Street contract was approved.

Standard Accident Company covering the bond of the City Treasurer was approved...
Communication from the State Railroad and Warehouse Commission with refer-
ence to the application of the Northern Pacific Railroad Company to take up cer-
tain tracks near the Twin City Forge plant was read and on motion of Councilman.

Communication/from the League of Minnesota Municipalities announcing the
conference of the Legislative Committee at the St. Paul Motel on January 20,1927.
On motion of Coun.:ilman Berglund the following resolution was adopted,
" Be it resolved that the Council of the City of Stillwater approves legislation
advocated by the League of Minn--eota Municipalities which would amend the present
zoning law applying to firetclass cities in order to permit all other cities and
villages to pass zoning ordinances."
On motion of Councilman Berglund the estimates of work done by Na.C.
Fraser & Son and A. F. Lehrer were approved.
Report of Clerk of the Municipal Court of receipts for the month of
November and report of City Clerk of Receipts and disbursements for the same month,
and reports of the City creasuser for the months oC' Auk st,September and October
were read and ordered filed.
The extension agreement of A. F. Lehrer was on motion of Councilman
Berglund approved.
On motion of Councilman Loeber all special assessments vs that part of
Lot 31 Block 42, of the original City, standing in the name of Bronson —Folsom
Towing Company, was ordered cancelled and the City Clerk was instructed to so
notify the County Auditor.
Deed from Albert R. Krueger :aid rife to the City of Stillwater,conveying
a part of Lots 5 & 3 Blk. 18, of the original Town,now City of Stillwater,was
presented, and on motion of Councilman Berglund the City Clerk was instructed to
draw a warrant for 5350.00 in favor of Albert R. Krueger to pay for same.
Communication from the Northern States Power Co. relative to paying for
lights on the bridge was read and on motion of Councilman Berglund the same was
accepted and ordered filed.
On motion of Councilman Loeber the City Attorney was instructed to
proceed to acquire title to a certain. 16 foot stria of land lying immediately
west of the property now owned by the Standard 011 Co., at the corner of Main street
and Commercial Avenue,in Block 18 of the Original Town,now City of Stillwater.
Resolution of thanks to Elmore Lowell was duly adopted.
On motion of Councilman Loeber,the City Clerk was ins -rutted to draw a
warrant in favor of the Park Fund for $100.00
Resolution authorizing the conveyance of a certain tract of land to the
Stillwater Motor Company and resolution directing the payment of bills were both
duly adopted.
