Roll call showed all officers present.
Minutes of meeting held Jan. and read and approied.
Mr. C. W. Del Plaine addressed the Council relative to joing the League of
Minnesota Municipalities, after which Councilman Gaalaas moved that the City join
the League, and that $20.00 be appropriated to pay dues up to Sep. 1,1923.
The Mayor appointed Ira P. King as assistant health inspector, and on motion
of Councilman Berglund the appointment was confirmed.
Everett toran applied to rent the old Armory for a skating rink,and rn motion
Of Councilman Raalaas the Building Inspector was instructed tc make an examination
of the building and report at next meeting.
Communication from the Mayor appointing John O'Neill, Gust Swanson and
Simone E. Andrews as special poll^amen, to serve without out pay except such pay
as they receive as firemon,was read and on motion of Councilman Caalaas the appoint-
ments were confirmed.

Report of the City Treasurer for the month of Dec. 1923 was read and filed.
Report of the Secretary of the Library Board of receipts and disbursements
for the year 1922 was read and ordered filed.
Annual report of receipts and disbursements by the City Clerk was read and
on motion of Councilman Berglund the City Clerk was instructed to request the
Public Examiner to audit the books of the City.
Report of City Engineer showing cost of all construction work within the
City during the year 1922 was read and ordered filed.
On motion of Councilman Berglund the City Engineer was instructed to have
a street light installed at the corner of Olive & Seeley Streets.
On motion of Councilman 2argl+,nd the City Engineer was instructed to repair
both the bridge over the St. Croix river and the so-called Browns Creek bridge.
On motion of Councilman Gaalaas the City Engineer was instructed to have the
snow cleaned off the several skating rinks.
On motion of Councilman Berglund the chair appointed Councilmen Loeber,
Jarchow and Berglund as a committee to investigate the advisability of amending
an ordinance relative to traf`. is across the St. Croix Bridge.
On motion of Councilman Loeber the chair appointed Councilman Loeber,Gaalaas
and Berglund as a committee to investigate all complaints made regarding sewer
assesenents.
On mtion of Councilman Gaalaas the City Engineer was instructed to,have
removed two trees standing in the side -walk in front of the new Armory, before
next Friday night.
On motion of Councilman Gaalaas the City Attorney was instructed to investi-
gate the advisability of amending the ordinance relative to Soft Drink Licenses.
Pesolution fixing the salary of the City Treasurer and resolution directing
the payment of bills were both duly adopted .
On motion of Councilman Berglund meeting adjourned.

butlding,Councilman Gateau moved that the matter of the condition of the build -

A committee representing the Stillwater Bar: Ball Association ware present
and proposed to raise funds to put the case ball park in good condition if the
City would convey to it by bill of sale the fensse arc ?rand stand now on the
grounds, and after talks and explanations it was decided,,:yon motion of Councilman Gee ens,
that the City convey to Max G. Slocum, Geo. V. Bzncroft,J. a. Shannon,Chas. F.
Englin and Bed Easton, as representatives of said fsaociation,.or the sum of y1.00,
the said equipment belonging tc the City of S'illwater, and the Groper officers
were instructed to execute a bill of sale, in behalf of the City, to the parties
above named.

ana Aeumeier, attorneys for Edware Nehring in payment of land for the Lily Lake

Street, Resolution directing the payment of bills and resolution directing the �

Minutes of last regular meeting read and approved.
Messrs. Nilson and Converse of the Stillwater Park Boantware present and
asked that a tax levy of $1500.00 be made for Park purposes for the year 1924, and
that the same when collected from the County with the tax settlements be placed to
the credit of the Park Fund, and there being no apparent objection the request was
granted. They also riled that the unused portion of $2000.00 which was placed in
the budget for park purposes for the year 1923 be also placed in the Park Fund,
but no definite action was taken.
Communication from the War Serial Association asking the Council to turn
over to them the $2500.00 received from the sale of a part of the South Main St.,
property, from E. M. Lavine Yes read and ordered filed.
Oath of office of Albert Et Ranum as special polioe was presented and
ordered filed.
0n motion of Councilman ceslaas, a pool table license was granted to L. R.
Buckley and Stillwater Lodge No. 179, B. P. 0. E.
on motion of Councilman Jarchow s Dance Permit was granted to Post If 48
American Legion.
On motion of Councilman Jarchow a Soft Drink License was granted to
Stillwater Lodge No. 179, B. P. 0. E.
On motion of Councilman Berglund the restoration of tho Soft Drink license
to Robert Johnson was refused.

On motion of Councilman Berglund the City Engineers' estimate of amount
due Edward Carlson on his Mulberry Street contract was approved.

of the NEi al Block 36, original City,was cancelled and a refund of 221.25
ordered paid to the First Bpptist Church for assessment of E6.25 padd in 1922,
and an assessment of $8.25 and interest $4.45 paid in 1923.
