The matter of improving the so -palled Pairy !ails road was taken up and
dieouesed,snd on motion of Counoilman Ryden She City Engineer was instructed to
proceed to make said improvements,the labor to be paid for out of the funds raised
'or the purpose of giving relief to the needy unemployed.
On motion of Councilmam McLaughlin it was decided to acquire s strip of
land adjoing amid road on the north to widen said road.
On motion of Councilman Christianson the City Attorney and Councilman
McLaughlin were selected to represent the City before the Railroad and warehouse
Commission in the matter of the application of the Street Railway Company to
discontinue the electric line between this City and Wildwood.
On motion of Councilman McLaughlin meeting adjourned .

In motion of Councilmen Ryden a peddlers license was granted to

On motion of Councilman McLaughlin Soft Drink Licenses were granted to

On motion of Councilman Taylor the City Clerk was instructed to request

widening:the road with 1M. Atwood,the"owner of the adjoining land and, tbat
Mr:"ltwood said he would deed to the City the amount required for $50.00 and

Regular Meeting;
Meeting called to order by President Lund.
A11 members of the Council present.
Minutes of meeting held January 19th read and approved.
Bond and contract of Lyman Sutton for plowing snow was presented and on
motion of Councilman McLaughlin the same was approved.
Communication from J.. E. Slaughter relative to his claim of $323.20 the
amount which he paid for having his sewer opened was taken up and after some
discussion the claim was disallowed on motion of Councilman Taylor
On motion of Councilman McLaughlin Soft Drink licenses were granted to
J. Alfred Kearney and Emily Ovens.
Communication from the Washington County tar Memorial Association relative
to turning over the Auditorium was taken ap and laid over to some future time.
On motion of Councilman Taylor the City Attorney was instructed to notify
all plumbers and the Board of Eater Commissioners, when they received• complaints
of sewers being obstructed, to first notify the City Engineer before proceeding •
to make any repairs.
Representatives of the so—called "The United States Daily Newspaper" were
present and urged the Counoil to subsctibe for same at the price of $15.00 for
tea years,and on motion of Councilman Ryden the matter was laid over.
The Committe to whom was referred the matter of conveying to Mr. A. J.
Parent the River Terminal property,made its report which was read and ordered filed,
upon motion of Councilman Ryden.
A resolution directing the proper officers to execute a contract to Mr.
A. J. Parent for the sale of the Terminal was duly adopted,
Annual report of the Chief of the Fixa Department was read and ordered filed.
On motion of Councilman Taylor the City Engineer was instructed to have
the old voting booth immediately north of the old Prison,torn down and use the
material in constructing a tool house at the City Gravel Pit in Oak Park.
On motion of Councilman Ryden the City. Engineer was instructed to proceed
to lay a new sewer in No. Fourth .Street from Laurel Street to the north end of
said street, south of the ravine.
The Mayor announced the appointment of Frank T. Wilson to succeed himself
as a member of the Park Board, and on motion of Councilman Ryden the appointment
was oonfirmed.
Resolution directing the payment of bills was duly adopted.
On motion of Councilman McLaughlin meeting adjourned.

Communication from the Administrative Committee of the Stillwater Emergency
Relief Organization urging the City administration to consider any worth while
projects to give employment to men who are in need, and particularly the diversion
of the outlet sewer at the so ",th end of Lowell Park.
-On motion of Councilman Christianson it was decided to proceed with said
work, " Councilman -McLaughlin voting in the negatives
Communication from H. R. Doers,, a member of the Hospital Board,tendering
his resignation from said Board was received, and on motion of Councilman:
McLaughlin the resignation was accepted.
The. Mayor announced the apj?I.ntment of kW. George V. Bancroft to fill the
vacancy caused by the resignation of, Mr. Doers, and on motion of ` Councilman
McLaughlin the appointment was confirmed.

Present were Councilmen Christianson and Ryden, and Mayor Lund,
Councilman Taylor having departed in the meantime.
Councilman Ryden moved that the bid of Bluff City Lumber Co, for furni h-

Councilman McLaughlin repo -ted that he and the City Engineer attended
the Minnesota State Tax Conference at the Curtis Hotel on the 10th inst,and was
of the opinion that such meetings were worth attending.
On motion of Councilman Christianson• it wa decided to investigatetheformerly
feasibility of converting the rear end of the Fire Department -building, y
used for horse barn, into a tool house for the Street Department.
On motion of Councilman McLaughlin the Mayor was appointed as a committee
of one and fully authorized to make such tests as he desired as to the- oulif*cations
of the firemen.

refunding bonds due in 1974, in lieu of $5000. Chicago Tax Warrante,which the bank
has deposited as collateral for deposito in lieu of Surety Pond.
And in view of the fact that sal bonds are worth only thirty five cents

Proposition of the Stillwater Sanitary Dairy to exchange a strip of land
30 feet in width,r.ext to and adjoingingRamsey Street between William and Greeley
street for a strip of land 34 feet in width and 115 feet long lying immediately

2r. John Merten, representing the American Legion requested the
Council to provide a suitable boat for the life saver at the bathing beach,and
on motion of Councilman Christianson the request was granted.
Communication from ?Fells -Dickey Co., requesting that remittances for
payment of bonds and bond interest be made thirty days prior to the date the
same become due to save collection fees was read and on motion the City Clerk was
instructed to mate such remittances if passible as requested.
Contract between the City of Stillwater and The Barrett Co. for furnish-
ing and spreading tarvia was read and on motion of Councilman McLaughlin the same
was approved.
Report of City Clerk for the month of nay was read and ordered filed.
On motion of Councilman Ryden the printing of election au -plies was
awarded the the Gazette Printing Co.
On motion of Councilman Christianson the bill of L. C. Parkhurst for
damage to his car caused by collision with the fire apparatus in the sum of
3111.12 was allowed and ordered paid.
The Mayor reported that a deal or agreement had been made to purchase
a stone crusher from Thoreen t Sandeen for the prince of „ s20^.00 and on motion of
Councilman Taylor the report was accepted and the -urchase of the crusher ordered.
At the request of the Chief of the Fire Department and on motion of
Councilman Taylor the firemen were granted their usual annual vacations.
Arthur Rivard asked the Council to designate a no parking space in
front of his.plaoe o` business and after some discussion the matter was referred to
the Chief of Police.
Mr. H. 0. Peterson addressed the Council and asked permission to hold
a public political eeeting at Mulberry Point and on motion of Councilman Taylor
permission was given to hold public meetings at said place with the consent of
the Stillwater Park Commission.
Mr. M. A. Nelson, representing the American Legion asked the Council to
cancel all assessments for local improvements and to recommend to the Board of
County Commissioners that the taxes be cancelled vs Lets 2 to S Block 2 of Staples
& hays' Addition,and on motion of Councilman McLoughlin the request was granted.
On motion of Councilman Ryden the Mayor and Councilman McLaughlin were
instructed to purchase a boat for the life saver at the bathing beach.
On motion of Councilman Taylor the salary of the life saver at the
bathing beach was fixed at the sum of 320.00 per month.
On motion of Councilman Christianson. the City Engineer was instructed
to proceed to prepare the streets where tarvia is to be applied and have the
tarvia applied.
On motion of Councilman Taylor the City Attorney wee instructed to
ascertain the mode of proceedure to amend the City Charter.
Councilman Taylor moved that the claim for doctors bill of 327.50
presented by Gust Swanson be ellor:ed and ordered paid, which motion was duly
seconded,voted upon and lost.
Resolution directing the payment of bills was duly adopted.

At a duly called meeting of the Commissioners of the Sinking Furd held at
the City Hall on the 30th day of July,1932,there were present Mayor Lund and
Councilmen McLaughlin and Christianson.
The following preamble and resolution was duly adopted;
Whereas, on the first day of August,1932,$2000.00 of the Wharf and Dock Bonds
of the City of Stillwater,issued August 1,1929,will become dee and payable at the
First National Bank of Stillwater,Minn, and
Whereas, it will be necessary for the City of Stillwater to provide for the
payment and redemption of said bonds,
Therefore, Be it Resolved,by the Commissioners of the Sinking Fund of the
City of Stillwater,tbat a warrant be made and the same 1s hereby ordered drawr, on
the City Treasurer from the Sinking Fund of said City and to be used only for the

The Farmers A Merchants State Bank made application to exchange certain
securities they have on deposit with the City as security as a City Depository,and
on motion of Councilman Ryden the request was granted.
Resolution of good will to J. D. Haggerty was unanimously adopted.
On motion of Councilman Christianson the contract between the City and
A. J. Anez for collecting garbage was extended for one year.
Mr. R. C. Gilbert applied to the Council for the right to operate

Report of City Treasurer for the month of November read and ordered filed.
City gngineer reported on the matter of installing a new light on Laurel
Street west of Owens street, that lie had investigated the proposition and --did not
recommend the inetallation of an extra light there,. but recommended that the
light atthe oorner of Owen.and Laurel 'streets be increased to a.100 watt
and .that the same. be- extended over the etreet,and on motion of councilman Taylor.
the report with his recommendationwas approved.
